The 14th Annual

Under the Volcano

Festival of Art and Social change

2004 15th Anniversary Update!

Under The Volcano collective invites you, the community, to participate in and to help build our festival for this summer. We are celebrating 15 years of cultural resistance, and we hope that you will add your skills and voices to what will prove to be our biggest festival yet, taking place on Sunday August 8th, 2004.

We will be organizing around strengthening the People¹s struggle against globalization and Imperialist wars of aggression. Centred around the theme of what it means to be "Illegal", some points will include: illegal occupations, both in Canada and internationally; legitimacy of laws; prison industry; immigrants rights and the issues of "citizenship"; U.S. militarization and human rights violations; and police brutality and the escalating violence against protesters.

We welcome members of the community to join one of our working committees, which include: grant writing, infrastructure + production, food services, publicity + promotions, administration, Info fair, kid¹s zone, and volunteer committee.

We also invite people to submit ideas and proposals for both on-site workshops and performers for our various stages.

Please contact the UTV collective to join a committee or offer a proposal.
