        Shut Down Aerospace North America!

Aerospace North America is one of the world's major all-sector aerospace and aviation tradeshows and has a definite emphasis on military technology.  Five hundred exhibitiors from twenty leading aerospace nations will come to do business with senior government, defense and industry visitors from eighty countries. 10,000 delegates attended this biennial event in 1997, including representatives from various military-oriented governments, in particular from the Pacific Rim. Even more are expected this year.

Most of the major global merchants of death will be present: Bombardier, BMW Rolls Royce, Boeing, Bristol Aerospace, ChinaAerospace, Dept. of National Defense, General Electric, Honeywell, Mitsubishi, NATO Flying Training, US Army US Air Force, US Dept. of Defense, and many more. Held in downtown Vancouver at the Trade and Convention center, Aerospace North America cannot be allowed to happen.

Two warships will also be anchored in the harbour adjacent to the convention centre: the USS Tarawa will be there to "Support American industry at the trade show" with two dozen attack helicopters and half a dozen Harrier jets on board... (just the kind of support US Business is used to in the "competitive global economy"...) and of course, Canada's own HMCS Calgary will be on the scene...

Join several thousand people from all over the region for mass theatre, protest, music, speakers and be a part of developing Vancouver's culture of resistance as you help us Shut Down the War Machine.  Bring your portable radio and batteries - pirate radio will be on the air, and YOU will be carrying our sound system...

Visit the Anti-War Machine web site for more information.
